Minnesota rep wants to increase fees for high-mileage cars

They ( politicians ) want to raise the sales tax in Michigan .

That's unbelievable, they say they want to cut down our independence on oil but obviously tax dollars are more important

The problem is career politicians. End the life benefits, pensions and once they have to work like the rest of us they might see the right way to do things. Sorry, I’d love to go on but I’ve got to run, my department is voting on if we should get a pay raise……

The state legislature in NC & SC are looking to hit the hybrid car owners with extra tax because they aren't contributing as much to the gas tax for road upkeep, yet they're still on the roads. Seems only fair to me. Heck I even pay road tax on gas for Benny on the water..

I heard a member of congress say "we need to increase gas tax because the gas price is down" and just shook my head in disbelief.

Most people do realize that tax is per gallon & not a percentage tax.

In other words, the tax collected on 1000 gallons of $2.00 gas is the same as what is collected on 1000 gallons of $4.00 gas.

Just shows how those big government will try anything to increase taxes to fund even more needless government.

Had to edit post ..... Bear in mind it's a thin line with political discussions. "General" statements, gray area. Specific party "statements", red area and not allowed. Sorry, but it's the rules. Carry on .......

Well, that leaves me with nothing to carry on about.

There should be a "Fouled Plug" section in the forum where we can talk about things that we have opinions about.

Pontoonforums.com has about 60% bitter like minded people all saying the same thing over and over and over. It's horrible. And believe it or not, there are a lot of really smart people who own electric cars that agree with an annual registration fee add-on to pay for roads. And some really intelligent people who think we do need to add to the gas tax...for roads and oil wars. Its a slippery slope and not very relaxing or fun.

Plenty of places on the net to talk about things you have opinions about. This club is a gift from Bennington Marine to Bennington owners and fans to use to talk about boats. Let's use our gift wisely.

Well things like this would not be so bad if the law makers had to follow all the same rules we did. I don't have any problem paying my fare share.

Well I apologize for not posting about boats. I thought we were a benny family and could have other general conversations also. Not trying to be an Axx but there seems to be alot of other topics here that have nothing to do with boats.

So again I apologize

Maybe we should take the Thanksgiving table approach. Avoid politics, religion. There is a reason these have caused so many wars. Those involved are very passionate and their views are not easily changed if at all.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!! I like it.

What about the 4th of July???

Too many fireworks already. Typically using the 4th of July approach involves a case of beer, (in my case) illegal fireworks and a bunch of happy people.

Thanksgiving, most people are bitter that boating season is done, more apt to argue, plus all the damn ads are still fresh in their minds, and the elections just happened.
