As Spar-Toon stated, the bridge will be raised - you'll love the chain! The only hassle is the section of river into Strawberry - very tight & one boat at a time... On the weekend, you could be waiting for a while to get through. The most important rule on that section is to HUG THE ROCK SEAWALL!!!

Yes they are raising the Portage bridge.  It's in process right now and will be done in Aug.  It's only going to be 5' above the water so you will have to take the bimini down.   It's going to be like the same bridge that goes to Little Portage lake that they did last year.   You are able to go through as they are doing construction.  


The chain is great.  You can take it from Portage all the way to Zukey lake and hit Zukey Lake Tavern.

I loved it when the new bridge was completed to allow access into Little Portage. Probably the best swimming lake on the chain! Have to say that I felt bad for the few that live on Little Portage because of the additional traffic. For about 5 minutes!
 
What year and model do you have? I worked on the older aircooled stuff up to 2000 model year.

Porsche - So the bottom of your PVC anchor is just the open end of the pipe?  How do you keep the lake bottom out of it, and from it getting all over your boat later when it dries?


I have a dock auger and a piece of PVC that fits it without melting the pipe.  I'd have to use a bolt to connect to the auger though. Got the stuff over the winter and have not put it together yet.  You have me wondering if the auger is even needed.  It's metal and sharp, and sharp metal stuff isn't good for a boat...

Yep - no need for an auger. I just shake the muck / sediment out & rinse them off in the lake before putting them back on the boat. No mess, no fuss.

Wilson Marine has some nice ones for around $29.00 each.   They use a hard rubber auger instead of metal.  They come in multiple colors and a few different sizes.  
 
What's the blue stuff on the handles?
 
I'm going to guess it's a braided hose of somesort.
 
If the handle was closer to the end, you could tie off to it like it was a regular boat cleat, and not need the eye bolt. 


I guess you could do that no matter where the handle was.
