A 71 year old achieved this, beating the prior record by 8 hours and 50 minutes! Started at Pensacola, Florida on July 12th. 12 to 14 hours of steering per day.! Congratulations Robert!

I have seen a few more articles - one was interesting in that he crossed Lake Michigan at a time with almost no waves, apparently a rare occurrence. Seems he had some good Karma on his side!
