I recently purchased a 2010 Bennington 2550 RCW pontoon. The speed gauge, as well as the trim gauge are not working. I think the trim issue is the sender, but I don't have any experience with the speed sensor. It appears to be the Paddle Wheel Style located next to the transducer. Does anyone have any experience replacing or troubleshooting the Paddle Wheel speed sensor? If so, do you have any suggested replacement part numbers?

Given the inaccuracy of the older analogue style speed gauges, have you considered just slapping on a newer plot finder/fishfinder? Depending on what you go with, and how it’s hooked up, you can get tons of motor and boat data, including GPS speed which is accurate, by going that route instead. Maybe go with a Garmain or Simrad, or something…?

I was thinking that too. The basic Garmin fishfinder is also dead on this boat so I'm planning on upgrading to a Fusion Appollo hideaway receiver and replacing my current stereo with a new Garmin fishfinder/chartplotter so I can run audio from that screen to save space. It bugs me though to have the "dead" gauge in the dash. I'm not going to be setting any speed records in this pontoon anyway, so I probably don't even need a speed gauge, lol. Thanks for your response!

Strange that the Garmin is also dead. Maybe something was not hooked up with everything or a master fuse, master power switch is not working?

The speedometer on our 2008 has never worked.(It does say the boat is going 50MPH for the last 12 years we have had the boat) Once a year I will run the boat at 3000 rpm. Open the gps speedometer app on the phone and remind myself that is about 22 mph and then never worry about it till next year.
