Perfect Holiday Weekend

Same here.............. perfect weather, went to a couple parties/cook outs and got to see some people we haven't seen in a while. My son sang the National anthem at Nationals Park in DC before a game against Colorado. Great experience for him and the entire family! Also got to go out on the Benny and relax and enjoy the water. A bit crowded and breezy but had a fantastic day! Enjoyed a couple really good fireworks displays..............
 
It would have been just a little more perfect if the boat had arrived, alas it will be here Thursday :)
 
We had an interesting 4th of July week. A buddy I worked with in NJ was down with his family (visits every year since we moved) and had them out on the boat for swimming at one of the islands. They left on the 3rd to go to Williamsburg for a few days on their way home. On the morning of the 3rd, one of the members here, ScottinLKN, picked us up at the house with his wife Karen, and we drove to Lake Norman Marina to pick up they're new to them 2012 Q with a 350 Yamaha. What a beast. long story short, they live in VA, bought the boat in PA and had it shipped. We went along to show them the lake and how to get from one end to the other. We left the dock after a quick tutorial of the boat and headed down the lake to their house, got the boat in the slip and walked to the house and picked up Karen. We were on our way back to our dock and the boat just quit. The boat has digital guages and it showed 3/4 fuel. Looked in the hatch at the tank and it was bone dry. So no problem, call boat us which I belong to and give them all the info and here's the kicker, if I was on the boat without Scott and Karen they would come out for free but being honest it would've been $150.00 to come out with fuel plus $24.00 for the fuel. OK,so I hang up and we call Westport Marina which is across the cove from our house and get this, they come out with fuel for $20.00! Got the boat back to the marina and filled it up for $241.00. Ouch! It was an adventure but we had fun and made it home. Kudos to Westport Marina on Lake Norman in Denver,NC.
 
Actually, I had no connections, it was just a nice marina. We're about 1/4 mile from the marina and I've only been there 2 or 3 times.
