Pfd storage

When I made my smartass post, I knew what you meant and actually didn't realize the pdf / pfd deal.  Of course, my Benny is slow like me and only goes about 18 mph WOT.

So I am not the only slow boat on here,  huh?  I was starting to feel like I was.

But I did purchase the biggest motor the boat was legally suited for.  We have kids or grandkids to be pulling around the lake, but use for calm boat rides and mostly fishing.  We leave the boat in the water, so the toons are dirty and my top speed might even be down to 17 mph now.

Oh, and our flotation devices are stored under a couch seat.  Just to try to correct the derail.

We have the blue ones in the bags from bass pro. one bag actually fits behind the flip up back rest and some room left over, and then we just spread the others out as needed. I have two plastic tubs that stack and slide under the helm, one for paper product, Solo Cups (just ice water! ) the carries all my cleaning supplies and misc. stuff. I probably have way more than needed, but you never know!

Lakeliving, I would suggest that you don't store the Pfd"s around the new power assist pump. Those pumps generate quite a bit of heat during operation. Not to mention that heat build up will effect the operation and longevity.Just saying! As far as Pdf storage. We keep 16 orange ones under the front port side seat. They seem to stay dry under the seat.

Our new Benny has the Mecury DTS with power steering. Is that what you're referring to that makes the helm storage area warm/hot? Not going to be a good place to store our cooler??

The seastar power assist, has a pump that is activated by the movement of the wheel when the ignition switch is in the run  position. The pump is put in different locations depending on your model. Lakelivings, was installed under tn helm. But what happens when the pump is activated,is it will produce heat. And the more you turn the wheel the more heat that must be dissipated. It does make a low whine noise when you turn the wheel. But once you go power assist, you will never go back. Just ask you dealer where the pump is being installed and make your storage plans accordingly.

Sorry Michiman, forgot to hit the post on the response.

Adding the p/s pump to a boat that has hydraulic steering installed is easier to do in the helm. From the factory it is installed closer to the motor.

Hmm, I'm used to I/O's so it looks like I have some learning to do about my new propulsion system. Owners manual, here I come once we take delivery!
