So i was using the Mercury prop selector for my 2018 R23 with a Merc 150 and it gave me these recommendations. First off, I had to use the weight estimate, but feel like i wasnt putting in enough. sometime it would be blank.

What do you think?

Acceleration and Top Speed - Enertia 3 Blade 15.3" dia and 14" Pitch Sku 8M0151397

Overall: Enertia 3 Blade 15" dia and 15" Pitch Sku 8M0151399

Handling: Revolution 4 4 blade 14.6" dia and 15" Pitch Sku 8M026620

I am a BIG Enertia fan! I am leaning strongly into the 14p Enertia recommendation. I have a 24’ SSBXP with Mercury Verado Pro 200HP. 14p was too small, and had to go up to a 16p. You have a heavier boat and less HP. So, a smaller pitch would be warranted.

I assume you have a tri-toon? I have a R22 with ESP with a Yamaha 150hp. I really like the enertia 15x15, it does a great job in all of the performance categories.

Nothing beats great first hand experience. We have some fantastic members in here.

Enertia is what we ran. Best prop we found for our set up. Started with a 15x15 and ended up with the 15.3x14 on a 2011 2275 RCW with a 150hp Merc Pro XS.

This is what's currently on my boat... an Enertia

Need to know your wot RPM numbers with that 13P? Each inch of pitch is worth about 150-200 rpm on average. Larger pitch, rpm comes down and vice versa..

If my memory serves me correct, your WOT is between 5000 and 5750 or 5800. You want to to be the lightest weight you can be have your rpm be as close to 5800 as you can. That way when you load up with fuel, people, gear etc, you still fall within the recommended wot RPM.

I have this as a second prop .. its a vengeance

We have an Enertia 14.75 Diameter 17P on our Mercury 150! Great hole shot for skiing. Top end with both biminis deployed this year is 39/40. I was told that we would benefit with a 15P but this is the prop that came with it and we're happy with its performance!

So with my current prop which is a 15.6" 13P the boat 5 adults and I w a s doing 23mph at 5400 rpm. Thoughts? How do I go faster?

Hmmm. That might be an issue. What is your RPM and speed with no people and light fuel load? Need this data point.

What is your motor mounting holes look like? Fully down at the lowest point? Are your toons clean and free of debris / algae?

You're at the middle of your WOT RPM range with a full load sure seems low and going down to a 11P get your RPM up a couple hundred RPM towards the upper end of the RPM scale probably won't get you anymore speed.

Doesn't seem right compared to others who are running a 15 or 17" pitch?

My fear is you is you have such a heavy boat with a ESP with only a 150hp motor. Those boats are rated for 300 to 350hp.

Although this is a SPS configuration which is 300lbs less pounds then your ESP, this Yamaha150 is running 37mph top end at 5900 rpm.

What is your trim setting and where do you have your passengers located at? Are they all at the front of the boat? Are you plowing water or are the front nose cones of your toons out of the water and above planning hull speed?

My motor mounting holes are all the way down. My trim was all the way down. Just a hair up to minimize vibration

I don't think I have ESP. It is the SPS.

Yes most weight was in the front. But the front end seemed up.

The toons are clean

Last week I had 4 people, at about 5400 rpm and speed was about 28mph

I know the boat is heavy, but I did expect more out of this 150.. I have another thread where I talk about how loud the motor is. Would the type of oil have anything to do with it? I think he might of used 25w40 synthetic

What kind of boat? That's awfully fast

Your original message said it was a ESP config. If your running a SPS, thats even a lighter boat for sure.

Tubes are clean and free of gunk? This boat is new to you or have you had it since 2018 when i t was new or did you buy it used? Just by a off chance, do you have any water in the tubes? Can you do a "slosh" test when on the trailer and rock it back and forth to hear for any water?

Something seems off for sure to get 23mph even with 5/6 people on board and 4 people with 28mph. 5mph with only 1 person less is odd. Are these mph based on speedo or a GPS setting on your phone or your depth finder?

I believe 10W 30 is what you should be using for oil

The boat is new to me... it has 120 hours on it. It was super clean...

The toons are clean. I don't think there is any water in them.

Yes sorry its sps

That was the speed from the speedo.. I still need to learn how to use the simrad

Try and get a GPS speed app on your phone but personally, I'd look for water in the tubes. My 2011 RCW had welds that were bad that I had to fix from the factory along with many others on this site.

No way going to a lower pitch prop then your 13P to get your RPM is gonna gain you 5+ mph which should be at around 30+mph with a SPS tube and a 150hp motor.

We've talked about your shaft length on the other thread and how to measure which shaft length you have. Now that we know you have a 3 tube configure, you have a 25" shaft transom and can accurately measure the shaft length.
