I asked about having the motors painted at the factory to match the boat, and they came back with $7K per engine. I honestly thought it had to be a mistake. A full custom color on the boat is around $7,500.

Even if it were $ 7,000 for both motors, or around $3,500 each, that still feels high compared to what it would cost to have it done afterwards.

Has anyone had this done recently, and is this quote correct?

5 years ago I had it done on a 2020 QCW , it had an Evinrude ( sold it in 2021 due to Evinrude stopped making conventional outboards ) At the time, you could order the motor in a primer if you wanted to have it painted .
My when it arrived my dealer took it to a local body shop and they matched the paint perfectly. Cost was $500

$7,500 per motor is crazy. Unfortunately that sounds like the “we don’t really want to do it and we hope you go away price”.

Yes, when I bought mine new in 2015 there was a local Body Shop within two miles of a large Marina that we bought ours and all they do was paint matching boat motors. They perfectly matched mine to the graphics on my boat it looks like a tiger has clawed it... black & gold and a splash of green for the Yamaha on the sides and the 200 on the back. Super sharp and still gets compliments 10 years later. Paid 1000 bucks back then. Has held up very well. You can always find people to do this much cheaper than the factory for sure.

2015 QCW Tower boat...

That’s one beautiful boat on the floor Bill. Wow! probably close to the price of our lake house when we bought it in 2016…lol
