funny, i just saw this in my feed the other day too. makes me angry cause it's a case of knowing your own limits... while there wasn't a danger of sinking, there was a very real danger of a lot of injury. i honestly can't believe how easy it is to hop behind the controls of a big heavy boat and go out and be dangerous...

even worse, on my lake (state park with a zero alcohol policy), they are too busy boarding raft ups to police the two speed zones where dangerous, high speed, and watersports activities are taking place...

not that it should be a free for all with the booze, but it's pretty bad most weekends

The situation looks intentional.

At least one video angle (later) of the two video angles clearly seems to be of a drone. In the second video angle (head on) the captain at the helm and aft most passengers are making hand signals to the camera as they hit the wake. The video also starts out wide, and then zooms in on the boat as it submarines a bit in the wake...AND everyone onboard seems unfazed and unsurprised by it.

A dangerous and irresponsible way to goof around if that was in fact the case.

even more sad i guess... what stupidity folks go through to get some clicks and views... seems everyone wants more than their 15 minutes of fame these days... :(

I was curious about the Water Limo banner on the back of the boat. Googled it and see it is a charter boat company. So customers pay to be taken out on their pontoon boats. Would have to think the captains are experienced. Hard to believe they'd do that on purpose to impress their customers.

It is hard to believe.

However, the video angles and incident seem intentional. Especially that second video and the lack of passenger reaction, hand singles directed at drone camera, etc... Is it just me with looking at the video this way? o_O

Either way, are minder when buying used boats and pontoons, from a rental or charter company, that your pre-owned boat could be very abused - intentional or not. :(

And hence, why that impacts and negates warranties most of the time with those type of pre-owned boats.

Probably a rental . The ones I have witnessed don't care and have no clue.

Viking - a lot of those inlet Youtubers fly drones to get more dramatic footage to get their clicks up, and many of the local boaters are familiar with them and will wave etc.

That being said, even though the toon stuffed a wake once the water sheds it keeps on keeping on like nothing ever happened. Compare that to a monohull where they can swamp, dump their occupants and possessions and sometimes capsize. So I view this as a MARKETING video on the benefits of tooning in rough seas! :D

When we first sold our Benny I/O to a couple from Smith Mountain lake in Virginia he told me that he had 10-11 family members on the boat out for a weekend cruise. He told me he got caught behind a big cruiser and stuffed it in his wake with the front gate opening up and water came over the bow and swamped the boat getting everybody wet! I had that boat for 12 yrs and I never even came close to getting us in a situation like that! I was shocked! I couldn't imagine doing that!

Ya nobody really seemed to care about the water going through the boat. Looked like a normal day on the water.

There are entire channels dedicated to Haulover. Nearly every boat is followed (or preceded) by at least 1 drone and at least 1 shore camera. It's a thing.

If not every boat gets escorted by drone, any one they suspect would have trouble will get that level of attention. I'd say any pontoon automatcially qualifies!

Interesting. I had no idea about drones, channels, and all that. Cool beans for those involved.

Right Poto! This just begs the question - how much can our TriToons take. We need someone to pushing these hard into some swells - it just might be they come out unfazed. Maybe we should contact RedBull - Redbull's TriToon Beatdown, I would watch it!

If they keep stuffing the bow like that I'm thinking at the very least the front panels and the front door have to be some what dented or pushed in to a point. That water coming over like that has got to create alot of force or pressure!

Well, I can tell you from personal experience that our boats can eat a 6-7 foot wave and take on hundreds of gallons of nasty Potomac River water like a champ! That was a fun night.

My dream scenario is to go out when a hurricane is blowing through the Mid-Atlantic screaming and hollering like Lt. Dan on Forrest Gump's shrimpin' boat. Record it on a GoPro, post to Youtube and end up either famous or the Qualified Captain (or both!)

I've seen that video of the pontoon boat cutting across the tubing rope! Somebody might have gotten shot that day! Irresponsible, dangerous and reckless!

Funny video but it’s not funny when you see someone piloting a boat near you that doesn’t know what they’re doing or seem to care. Don’t understand why a state as heavily regulated as MA doesn’t require any kind of licensing or training to operate watercraft including any size boat. I needed a license for my 2 pound dog that never left our yard but not to operate a boat carrying 12 people around dozens of other boats anytime of day or night. Crazy.
