Secondarily to what Jack shared FIre Up, the reminders were due to deleted responses that became critical of our attempts to more kindly redirect comments with the terms of use policy from another member.I'm not quite sure I understand. Is there or has there been, some form of rule breaking displayed in this thread? If you're eluding to the links I've linked about how the different types of seams are sewn by a given company, I can't quite see the issue since I'm not or never was trying to "sell" any particular product or service from said company. In my opinion, all I've done by linking those videos is show how things CAN be done (that would promote a tougher and more stress resistant seam) vs the way they appear to be done on some of the members boats.

That said, and it may easily go overlooked, moderating is a challenge in weighing competing items sometimes. As such, we as moderators try hard to be consistent in our application of the standards and terms of use. But with a forum as old and rich as this one, that in and of itself is tough to do sometimes. We are not always spot on, and when one of us catches it, we try to deal with it as best we can. Our more active moderating members are often handling things directly on behalf of the group after moderator group input. We do not mean it in a personal manner, but nor should one be upset with a particular moderator because they are simply the one in the group at that time responding directly after consultation with the rest of us.
We try our best, with a focus on the required enforcement of the terms of use, along with the generic focus on maintaining a nice, friendly, and all ages appropriate forum site for Bennington owners. As such, some boating discussion items are simply better suited to other forums/sites than this one for various reasons.
I hope this clears up both your question, but for others, why we might shut down a thread, or delete replies, or sometimes keep a thread open, but post the terms of use as a reminder (for people in the thread to re-read before continuing to post/reply in a thread).
Happy boating folks!
