Hey folks: on my Q, the Roto Mold seat bases have some pretty sharp edges on the Inner Edge portion. Example if you open up the seat and you look into the storage section of the seat their is a Edge that go's all around the seat base Part of it is the factory Dosent do anything to de-burr the Edge and part of it is just the design and layout. I have nicked my self a few times reaching in and pulling stuff out of the section and figured I would address it now.

I ordered 30 feet of this rubber Edge guard. But I'm not sure it's going to work. All the Edge gaurd stuff I have used in the past is designed for a pretty thin Edge. The seat base material is pretty thick i was wondering if anyone had used a Edge gaurd material that they could recommend. ?

This is what i got

Looks like a good product and it should work. Although I don't have sharp edges in my seat bases......

Did you try a deburring tool. Might do what you want without having to add edging.

^^^im defiantly going to deburr or sand the edges but some of the edges or corners are still going to be pointed. So that's where the "idea" of the Edge trim came to mind. Also I thought it would give it a nice finished look. Just have a feeling that the common Edge trim stuff I got is going to be to small or not open up wide enough to fit over the thick plastic that the seat bases are made of

Door edge trim opens up pretty far. That one opens up just over 1/8". I doubt the seat bases are thicker than that.

I have a picture in my gallery of de burring this very piece.  The tool was very effective in cleaning that edge up.

Thankfully, no such problem here. Post some before and after pictures!

This is the stock Edge

That black edging looks like on product we use at work on sharp metal edges to protect hydraulic hoses.  The brand we use is called trim-lok and comes in a large roll.  You pull off a section as long as you need and trim it with a pair of wire cutters (has a metal core inside that locks it onto whatever you are using it on).  They have all kinds of edging on the website.

Nice work Mr.G! I have to say that my edges seem to be very nice, particularly when compared to yours. Nonetheless, I love the look of your and may well do the modification anyway.

This give the edge a nice smooth finished look.

I really like the clean look of this trim.  I don't have my boat yet, but if the edges are even remotely rough, I think I may do this in each of the seat storage areas.  Heck, I might do it either way - I just like the nice clean look.  Thanks for sharing!!!

That edge does not even look factory, holy crap.  Mine was kinda sharp so i cleaned the edge off.  Looks 100% good.

That looks good G. Definite cleans it up nicely!

That looks great.  Got to admit I am surprised at the before pictures, I will have to take a closer look at mine this spring

I agree it looks terrible, unsafe too. Cuts like this are common in rotomolding and can be cleaned up very easily with a tourch or a rasp. I would hope Bennington has listed this on their specification so they can go back to the supplier. Or... for the ultimate look, as G has done, cap it. Looks great and eliminates a saftey concern, and I think this look should be standard.

In keeping with the theme of covering up sharp edges I decided to do the galley door
