If purchase a 2023 boat that was sold to original owner in May of 2024 would it qualify for the second owner to retain the 10 year warranty from start date since a 2023 boat or do they go by date boat was actually sold new and since 2024 would only qualify for the new 5 year warranty from start once transfered? Thanks

Did you transfer the warranty at an Authorized Bennington Dealer ?
This is quoted from the Fine Print section of the warranty .

"To the extent that the original end-consumer transfers this warranty to a second end-consumer, that second end-consumer shall only receive the benefits under this warranty for a maximum of five (5) years after the original end-consumer’s original purchase warranty registration date. An end-consumer, under the applicable laws, includes and only includes a buyer (other than for purposes of resale) of POLARIS BOATS who will use the boat; any person to whom such product is transferred during the duration of the applicable warranty; and any other person who is entitled by the terms of such warranty or under applicable law to enforce against POLARIS BOATS the obligations of the warranty. These warranties shall thus not apply to any reseller of Bennington boats."

Here is the warranty statement .
Here is the warranty Fine Print .

Ok was under the impression it started with the 2024 model year. I would be disappointed if bought a new boat in 2020 and find out you can no longer transfer the warranty if selling it since the 10 year would no longer apply. Do they tend to change the original warranty terms very often?

Since they have offered the 10 year and lifetime structural , it hasn't changed much . They change the date every model year. What you posted is the only change I have noticed.

I don't believe a party could change a contractual term, which includes the warranty and its transferability. So your challenge is figuring out what the warranty policy was at the time of sale, or better, what warranty documents were provided with the boat to the original purchaser, and what was their understanding. With that said, I understand the change took place effective 1/1/2024 - so any Bennington originally sold to an end user on that date or after has the new limited 5 year transfer warranty.

This has been my understanding generally. That said, the warranty has typically been specific to model year. Curious about the OP’s situation since it straddles to aspects of warranty: 2023 boat, but sold May 2024.

I will be curious to hear how it unfolds as it may apply to others in the forum at some point.

I believe the warranty is specific to the delivery date, not the model year.

My boat is a 2017 model year but it was delivered in September 2016. There were significant improvements to the warranty starting January 1, 2017. (Don't quote me on this but I believe the 10 year stem to stern warranty covering everything started then.) I did not get those benefits and have had to replace a defective head unit and the Garmin depth sounder on my own dime.

I think you are correct, there is a date the 10 year Warranty started. Im almost positive Jeff knows that date .

It was 7 years for 2017 model year, with option to upgrade an additional 3 years in 2017 by joining this forum and registering that with Bennington.

In 2018 it they switched it straight to 10 years at purchase, with no need to do anything extra.
