Mine lasted only a couple of weeks. I know others on this board have had similar experiences so I very surprised they haven't changed vendor's or the design. Fortunately, my ladder stayed up all season without the snap.

That's why I like our new style SS ladder. Locks in with pegs on side of ladder into slots in the bracket.  :Like:
 
Same happened to mine in the first year.  Dealer said it happens all the time and they keep them in stock so they can replace quickly.  Sounds like it might be a good idea to use the SS style peg locks on all the ladders.  
 
I think our ladder strap last about four or five outings. A good shove of the ladder with it snapped in position is a sure fire way of its demise. I have found the ladder does just fine without it.:)))

We had a snap come off the strap the first year. They replaced it when Yamaha did that fuel line recall a few years ago and have not had any problems since. Our dealer drove 235 miles to the lake house and did both services since we didn't buy a trailer.

That would have been my choice except we bought off the lot and didn't therefore have a choice. My wife was also concerned about someone possibly getting their fingers pinched with the folding ladder, but I'm personally not sure that is a legitimate possibility.
