Today we completed our annual thorough "spring cleaning" before our first outing of the season. I discovered a small 1/8th inch tear in the Simtex vinyl on the side of one of my rear loungers. Of course I want to repair it before it gets worse. I was thinking of trying one of those vinyl repair kits that I have used with good results on car seats. I know the Simtex is little different than the the vinyl in car seats and it won't be a perfect match. Before I do this I thought I would ask forum members if they have done this or if they have other ideas. Thanks in advance.

My suggestion would be to "Google" it! That said, good luck and happy boating...

You can contact Bennington with the link below ,they may have a suggestion .

I followed MIchiman's suggestion and it actually took me to a link on this forum where I had commented on post about a tear in the Simtex vinyl. HA! The individual has called both Simtex and Bennington and neither had advice about fixing it. I think I am going to start with some fabric glue and see what that does.

Thanks for the help!

I overheard a conversation at the service department for the dealership we use for our boat. Similear situation - small rip in someone Semtex from maybe a screwdriver poking through or something. Anyway, our dealership said they have a local fabric repair person they could recommend. They’ve apparently had success on small situations like this with a fabric glue.

Just sharing to help bolster your spirits in hoping it works. Best of luck to you!

I have had great success using Coghlan's "Airstop" on many vinyl products, including the ottoman/cooler on my Bennington. Amazon sells it cheap, and it is specifically designed for vinyl, PVC, PVC coated nylon or rayon. While I can't be certain of the results on Simtex, I would think that since it is vinyl, it should work well. You could test it on an inconspicuous area (like under the helm chair) just to make sure it doesn't do anything objectionable. I do know it has fixed countless holes/rips/tears for me in tubes, floats, etc. It really holds up well.....
