8 track story. I ordered my 1978 Trans Am with the radio delete package.Saved me big $$ back then (Blank plate in dash, ant in wind shield) The car left the dealer in Corpus Christi Texas, me driving as fast I could to the local stereo shop (home and auto) I asked the sales guy , I needed an 8 track player. His response ? "WHAT?" Cassette is now and the future, your crazy" "Sir, I have too many 8 tracks" I was 24 at the time..OK let me look in the back, I may have something..... 10 minutes later
Out comes the last of its kind, Sanyo "Bi-Amp" unit that fit in the dash perfectly. Man did it crank!! the tapes then where Doobie Bro/ Marshall Tucker/Led Zepplin/Joe Walsh, etc. People would see the dash unit and say '" Sounds great, Why didn't you go with cassette?" Today? All the tapes are gone, including the Sanyo. I still have the Trans Am. (XM satellite hooked up)
