Anyone had luck finding where you can toggle to Sport Mode on the Verado in your Simrad? I've tried everything I've seen online and every drill-down on the menus but cannot locate it...
Yes I think the issue is I don't have "Vessel Control" loaded in the Simrad. Tried to download the Mercury VesselView app and connect it to the Simrad but couldn't get it to work either. I'll see again on the boat this afternoon...
I saw mercury at the top right of your screen.
You can call Mercury, I don't have the number with with me now ( on the lake ) ,but do a search in the upper right for Mercury phone number. Start there to find out if anything needs to be added and speak to your dealer.
Okay figured it out and it's related to the newest Simrad NSX unit/software. There is no longer a "Vessel Control" in the newer streamlined version. Did some deep AI research to find out that with the new set-up, my Simrad is reading the engine data but can't send commands back to the engine (e.g. to unlock Sport Mode) unless you install one of these:
I don't think Bennington even realized this issue (specifically w/ the new Simrad NSX paried w/Verado 300-425s) until I contacted them
Yes I sent an email explaining that without them adding this part, I was permanently locked out of sport mode on my new engine, so they agreed to have the dealer order the part and install it
Yes! Today the dealer replaced the SmartCraft Connect module so it is now is capable of sending info to the engine (instead of only reading data), and I can now see and activate "Sport Mode" under the Mercury app in the Simrad.
Mystery solved (I think) - the part that Bennington installed on the boat when built (and that the dealer pulled out and replaced today) was a Garmin-compatible version instead of Simrad, since it is a different part # and only shows Garmin printed on it.
According to AI it says that "yes you do need part # 8M0235017 for the Simrad-specific SmartCraft Connect under-helm kit) to properly integrate and run Mercury VesselView data on compatible Simrad displays like the NSX or NSS series.". I have the newer NSX series so that's why it wasn't working.
In case any other QX / Mercury / Simrad NSX owners encounter this issue, I'm attaching pictures of the wrong part that was initially installed during the build:
