Strange pontoon etching / disfiguration

Thanks for all the responses. The problem in the picture didn’t occur in the first few seasons and I have never applied anything to the toons. Dealer may have tried to clean before I purchased, but not sure. Dealer is trying to narrow down the issue but is speculating that is likely some sort of stray voltage issue while it is in the water.

Pbakk, once your dealer identifies the problem maybe he’ll also comp you an acid wash which might help make your toons look more uniform. That said, for many of us, having factory fresh toons is just not in the cards. While it’s a bitter pill to swallow, I’ve pretty much come to accept that it’s a small trade-off for the many advantages a pontoon offers.

Ask your dealer to polish and coat them. Bennington no longer uses sharkhide . I believe the new product is metal jacket. I'll check on the name.

Hello,
I pulled the 2019 GSR 23’ Bennington pontoon out and noticed a strange disfiguring on starboard side pontoon. I have Ultra Legs, so the boat is always out of the water and it can’t be from the dock. Numerous pontoons in our bay and nobody has anything like it, thus it doesn’t seem like it is the water or stray electricity. I am stumped. Any ideas? The port side (dockside) pontoon is fine. We never get close to other boats.
Thanks,
Pat.
Definitely aluminum oxidation, have no reason for it, PH imbalance just guessing

Thanks for the response. So strange to have it show up all in one season after no issues the first few seasons. The only known difference is the dealer electrical repair work replacing a broken rocker switch panel before the season started, but that might just be coincidence.

Could also be a case for shark hide sealant
