Throttle grinding both directions

My Bennington 2006 Yamaha 115 began to flutter when decelerating? All of a sudden? Then later,when docking, I engaged the throttle “quickly” and the speed was much more than normal when engaged. When engaging the throttle it was grinding in both reverse and forward. It has never done that . Any ideas on why these two things happened at the same time? Throttle cable? Thanks for any advise !

Starting with the cable is a good start. Also the control box can sometimes where out internally. Take your time and diagnose. If it becomes too much, find a reputable mechanic. Sometimes we all need one.️️

I had a similar event on my new 2021 a few years ago. It was pretty scary actually as the throttle was very unpredictable. Thankfully the fix was simple and my marina came to my dock to fix it right away. The throttle cable was incorrectly attached back in the motor. I'd start there. Good luck
