Transducer cable protection?

My boat was in winter storage at the dealer and was scheduled for delivery today or tomorrow.

I got a call from the dealer and when checking the boat they found that a critter (mouse?) chewed through the transducer cable. Of course they didn't have one in stock and a replacement will be in next week.

It's a fairly easy replacement but can't be done in the water so I'm having the dealer do it, $250.00 estimate.

It's for a Garmin.

So I am assuming the cable was severed outside near the transducer but will confirm.

My question, any ideas on what I can use to provide some protection for the new cable? Something i can install in the water myself? I know they make cable looms that can be slit lengthwise and secured with zip ties.

Any better ideas? I'd love something made of SS but no way to slit it and place over the existing cable.

If you get a stainless steel sleeve you could have the dealer install it at the same time as the new cable . Amazon has rolls of a SS mesh sleeves.

I'd be surprised if it was on the outside vs. the longer length under the decking, just knowing rodents (if that's actually what it was) are more likely to do weird stuff like this in concealed areas.

I'm also surprised they are doing this for so cheap - once a transducer cable is severed typically you have to replace the entire cable and transducer as splicing it back together would be a PITA. Do you have a wave shield that prevents easy access?
