Having issue with trim gauge not going down all the way. Not sure if it’s the gauge itself or if it’s the actual trim that is not going down all the way. Any i suggestions on what I should check.

Welcome to the forum Losman. Next time you go out while sitting at the ramp or dock trim your motor up/down to several heights/levels then check the gauge to see if it correlates with the gauge! You can physically see the position of your motor/trim! If it doesn't match the position on the gauge contact your dealers service department. Your boat is still under warranty.

The trim gage system consists of two parts. The gage on the boat dash and the tilt sensor on the motor. The tilt sensor is most probable. It can be come out of adjustment do to debris. Not sure if it is covered by the boat warranty. The small sensor is a variable resistor mounted next to the heavy motor tilt pivot. With the motor all the way up one see how it works. You will need a flashlight even in the light of day. Be careful! It is kind of like putting your head into a giant nut cracker.

If the issue is part of the motor and you do not have an extended warranty it may not be covered under warranty.

I had an issue with my Yamaha not tilting all the way down. The trim rams need occasional lubrication and there are two bolts that "receive" the ram tips... those need to be cleaned and lubricated occasionally as well so they allow the ram tips to slide in the bolt while trimming/tilting.

I had to replace the trim motor assembly on my 2020 yamaha 150 last winter. Luckily got it fixed right before the warranty expired. The motor would move very slowly up and down, then eventually just quit.

Check it out on the dock and see if it's actually moving.
