Trolling/idling question

Is it bad for the engine to put it into gear for some slow trolling? Just curious. Have a Yamaha VMax 150. Thanks!

We cocktail cruise just over idle all the time. No issues.

Nope. Been trolling for walleye with my 2011 Optimax 150 pro xs. Even use sea bags to slow us down to the 1.2-1.5mph range. Newer motors (even 2 strokes) don't foul up at low speeds like the old carb'd motors used to do.
