What are ya'll using for underskinning? Is it worth th hassle? 20ft. Pontoon with 90 up motor.

I underskinned my RL with a 115. Picked up about 4-5 MPH. However what I like most was the ride. We live on a very large lake that can get pretty rough and it really made the ride much smoother

Yes its worth it ,mine was done at the factory .

The biggest improvement is likely to be in ride quality, but you might also pick up a little bit in performance. I personally wouldn’t own a pontoon without it now. Ours had it as a factory option, but there are a few threads in the forum from the past where a few members were talking about underskinning their own boats and passing around some thoughts. Do a search in the upper right hand corner to try to browse some of them.

Just an update. Installed underskin this week and went for a test ride. Ride was amazing, even crossing wake boat wakes. Also picked up 4mph at WOT as a bonus. Just wish I had done it sooner. Pain in the butt to install myself, but we'll worth it. Used 0.063 aluminum with stainless self tapping screws. (Another pain) ended up drilling pilot holes.

Keep an eye on the screws loosing up, those panels do alot of vibrating. I used stainless steel pop rivets.

True story. One of the guys a few years ago lost a bunch of screws and ended up using Blue Loctite to try and keep them in place. Lots of vibration going on down there
