You may have seen my previous post about my purchase disaster with a used boat.

I am happy to say everything worked out well.

I got all my money back and now I am planning on a NEW Bennington 2275 GCW.

Our Governor, Chris Christie, just lowered the sales tax on boats from 7% to 3,5%   WOO HOO !!!

Here's the config that I built from the Bennington "build and price" website.

(  All prices are MSRP off the website.)

Anything to suggest as to add or delete? Feel free to comment.

(The boat will be in saltwater and will be used to enjoy good times with my kids and grandkids)

Looks like a good setup.  I'm sure others will have some comments, but whatever final touches you decide on I'm sure you're going to love it -- congrats!

Very nice and glad it's working out for you.

SPS/150 is a great setup. I'd also get center toon storage if possible.

Maybe you already have it, but saltwater package with anodes is a must. Sealed strakes are part of that I believe.

Raised helm is an option mentioned a lot as a "must". I really like mine on an RCW.

Plus 1 on the raised helm ,and IF you can swing it, go with the 200 hp .Ask me how I know .

Have to agree on the raised helm. It's one of those little things you dont think about that make a huge difference. Always go with the next step up on motor than what you think you need if possible. Biggest complaint I hear is "Love our boat just wish we would have gone a little bigger on power". I also looked at getting the bow gate seat but after some feedback here I decided to wait. I am glad I did not get it as I could see how it would be in the way a lot. Just my humble opinion.

I also have a "bow gate seat " it does get in the way .My wife enters and exits from the bow . I tie the anchor from the bow cleats  when @ the sand bar .Currently  it is a port gate which my wife uses as an ottoman when underway .

So at least it is getting some use .

Maybe consider Sharkhide.  I put it on myself which isn't hard to do but it's easier to just let the factory do it.  The new Kicker deck is pretty cool (especially if you play your IPOD/IPhone a lot) and the upgraded Garmin FF/Chartplotter is worth the extra money.  Really nice and detailed.  I agree, get the elevated helm.  On the motor, get the biggest one you can afford.  I had twin Yami 150's on my SW boat and they purr like kittens.  You'll be happy with any Yamaha motor you choose.

Thanks guys. The dealer recommended the "adjustable height pedestal helm seat" instead of the "elevated helm". It is a supposedly a new option. He said it is way less money and does not present a trip hazard like the elevated helm. Yes?

I don't think I need the sharkhide since I will be painting over half of the pontoons anyway with bottom paint.

If the factory applied it, the dealer would have to remove over half of it so he can bottom paint.

Thinking about the need for that bow seat.

Love to go for the 200HP but that's another $4-5K.

Yamaha Performance bulletins say I should be able to do 40MPH with the 150HP.

I can live with that.

Appreciate all the help!

I would still do the elevated helm. I like having the platform for my feet rest on it. Also don't have to worry about hydraulics wearing out over time. I would never see a reason to have it in the lower position anyways.

I think the dealer was being a little optimistic with the 40 mph especially considering this sounds like a family boat and will most likely have more than just a couple of riders most of the time. Just my humble opinion.

I just got the 24 SCWX with the Yamaha F150 and took it out Friday and after I transferred all the junk from my old boat to this one I was able to hit a max speed of 39mph (just me in the boat) with limited wind and smooth waters.  I bet without that extra stuff I could have just hit 40mph.  Good luck!

Like mentioned before......we too have the bow filler seat and most of the summer it stays at the house as it does get in the way.  We tend to board from the bow (at our docks) and most of the time when we dock at resturants on our lake.  So before the water gets warm enough to swim or tube we tend to put the seat in the stern and just leave it there.  Don't get me wrong it is nice to have if you are entertaining several guests and you can sit full circle around the table.

Your dealer isn't pulling your leg about being able to run roughly 40 with the 150 as long as you have at least the sps package with lifting strakes and a light load.  Our GSR with sps and strakes would do just a tick under 40 with the 2 of us on board and a full tank of fuel.  Then we starting putting all our crap on board (3 anchors - 10-12 life jackets - pile of beach towels - loaded cooler - food for the day out on the water - the bow filler seat - her ottoman and the towable) then you add a few guests and that 40 is no longer obtainable with the 150....becomes more like a mid 30's boat which is plenty fast for us but might not be for you.

I'm just curious how you are planning on getting the pop up cleats and the stainless cleats as well or is there a stainless pop up option?

We have the stainless rubrail and docking lights which makes for a nice look with the full seagrass floor.

Not aware of a " trip hazard " on an elevated helm .

Never been a trip hazard for us either on the elevated helm and I absolutely love the integrated footrest that comes with it. It makes the driver station so much more comfortable - to me anyway. We have an R though. Not sure if that footrest is included on the G elevated helm.

A couple thoughts from my experience. I have a 2275 GCW as well.

I'd ditch the bimini lights. A couple reasons why: first, we never have the bimini open at night. It's for blocking sun, not blocking starry skies! Second, the blue lights in the bimini are really hard on the eyes. Try sitting up front and looking back toward the driver. It's like having 6 blue spotlights in your face. I installed LEDs under the lip of all the seats. I can set them any color and it doesn't ruin your night vision. It's great.

In-floor storage is awesome and worth every penny.

Good choice on the heavy duty rub rail. Wish I had one.

I'd stick with the 46" pylon unless there's a compelling reason to go taller. Easier to stow and less in the way. I thought the 52" was just for the massive motors and some of the floor plans that need a little extra clearance. 46" is great with our F200 v6.

Platinum seagrass is a great choice. The designer vinyl that looks similar to it is awesome too. I hate my carpet and love the aft seagrass. I'm totally jealous.

I love the bow gate seat but not in the bow. I keep mine in the port. It leaves a an inch or two of extra space but it's awesome.

That adjustable height seat will be nice. I have the elevated helm but I swear the seat is still the same height as it is without. I have no idea how you could trip on the elevated helm.

Plus 10 on elevated helm. Been a deal breaker for us on a couple leftovers at the dealer.

I had forgot about the sharkhide .I agree let the factory apply it .

Looks like a really nice build. I'd have the dealer sharpen his pencil on the 200hp upgrade. Mine was a $3000 jump to go up from the 150. I'm glad it worked out and I think you will love the new boat a zillion times better.

What are your plans to protect her while not in use? I see you have seat covers. One thing that was a must for me at our marina was a mooring cover.Birds crapped all over the thing. There are a few on our docks that have the seat covers, but they are always cleaning their floors from the birds.

Mooring cover for the NJ seagulls, 200 and power assisted steering. Scrap the filler seat and bimini lights.
