This is not question to bait anyone or to start a political discussion. It's a sincere question that I don't know the answer to. And it's not really a question that I can google to get any results without wading through steaming piles of...

Aside from the farmers who grow GMO corn and their close community ties, ethanol blenders, and their lobby groups...is there anyone in the country that is actually FOR the Ethanol mandate? I really don't understand who is for this thing. I can sense overwhelming opposition. It is proven to be terrible for engines. Including boat engines.

The green party people tend to be as anti-GMO as anti oil. Even Al Gore is on the record saying that the Ethanol mandate was more aimed at building election support than doing something positive for the economy. I really don't know where support is coming from?

Maybe once the blend of corn to diesel is increaesd and their $600,000 combines start having engines go out they'll see the down side too. Until then it is a money maker as it guarentees a demand for their product. I'm sure bennington would back a law that requires every american household to own a pontoon as it would drive sales. Like Mr. Wonderful says, It's always about the money.

I'm sure the national brotherhood of engine repair also supports corn in fuel. Why not, job security.

I guess it comes down to the manufacturers too. Are they unable to make engine components to handle the ethanol? Or would it just cost too much and eat into their earnings per share?
