My first tritoon , had several bow riders . Any thoughts on the vantage guard ? Just purchased 2018 gsr 22 with 200 hp.
 
What is it?
 
What does it cover that your 10 year Bennington warranty doesnt ?
Is it an extended warranty ?

Congrats on the boat. I have the same model from the same dealer. They are a good group of people and have always treated me fair. Vantage guard must be new since marine max buyout as I don't recall it being offered. Let us know what you decide. Enjoy the toon.
 
My gut says pass without reading into it. You have a 10 year warranty against defects so unless it covers accidents/negligence it is worthless in my opinion. And that is expensive too.
 
I think it's a highly durable 3M protective film that you put over your toons. It comes in clear and some colors as well. I've seen the clear on a boat at our dealer and you really can't even detect that it's there. In other words, I think this is a more permanent alternative to Sharkskin, although I'm under the impression that it can be removed if desired. Frankly, I wish I had known about it because then I wouldn't be in the situation I'm in with a bad acid wash! If you want your toons to look like new for a very long time, this might be your solution.

This is exactly what it is, and Mich and I have the same dealer. It does like great in the dealer. I’ve been curious about it, and almost added it myself on our boat last winter. They nice thing about it, is you can add it at any point, so you could always hold off, and if your toons get dinged or scuffed up, covering them with this down the road.

However, I was exchanging messages with someone on a FB pontoon page that has this on their pontoon. They said they are on their 3rd year of it peeling a bit, and their dealership having to reapply/repair it. He was unsure if this is typical, or if he just had an initial bad application, and is now paying the price each season.
