New to the forum. Found this damage right after taking off the shrink wrap. dealer actually just replaced the seat in fall then shrink wrapped it. it was under warranty and had a tear when I bought it in the summer. what could have caused this?

I'm thinking a mouse, from their claws

Looks like cat claw damage to me.

Absolutely looks like animal claw damage. I would inspect the boat carefully for other signs of animal damage as well to insure you find it all. Sadly, I think you are looking at an insurance claim with that sort of damage.

Looks like cat to me too. We have Maine Coons that without scratching posts around the house; they would destroy everything they can get their mitts on, think small Bobcat! Not to make light of this, I would be freaking out about it. If you have a feral cat causing this damage it may be well worth putting a scratching post in the boat when in storage. They work and they'll leave your upholstery alone.

Not trying to be a smart a**, mine is stored at my dealer inside. How does a cat get into a shrink wrapped boat with out an obvious opening ?

I just spoke to my nephew who shrink wraps on the side. He said yes they can get through the area near the motor depending how it's wrapped.

I sent the pic to my nephew, his opinion is cat or raccoon.

Best way to keep them out during storage is dropping dryer sheets under seats and in an old plastic container with holes.

I empty 1/2 - 3/4 of a box of Bounce dryer sheets in the Fall before the pontoon gets shrink wrapped. Cheap insurance and it smell April fresh in the Spring.

Dealer said a new bench would be $4k+ to install. They are not sure if Bennington provides the skin to get it re-upholstered. Any way, the holes can be patched to a certain extent?
