Vivid UX bug?

Just got a brand new LX, upgraded from a 2020 S series. What a difference! My new boat has the Vivid UX screens and the reset buttons on the main screen (fuel used and trip hours) do not work. I went to my local dealer thinking the problem was operator error and they told me they can’t get those reset buttons to work either. Oddly they do work occasionally, almost randomly but don’t behave as expected 95% of the time. Hopefully someone from Bennington can chime in as to when a fix will be available?

You can contact Bennington at 888 906 2628.

Love my LX, seems a great balance between luxury, features and price. I have the Simrad screen - not a single issue worthy of noting about this amazing toon since purchase. However, with about 4 years - your dealer is the critical component. Mine has stepped up and fixed anything I throw at them, a dealer should not be pushing off issues for you to call about. They sold you a $100K boat, as your sales rep or the repair manager directly. Also search the Facebooks sites (Bennington & Vivid pages), and even Youtube for possible answers.

I’ll clarify. I’ve been to the dealer in person. These features don’t work on their boats either. It’s not a dealer issue - it’s a firmware issue. My question is whether or not Bennington is actively working on it. My dealer said they’ve reported it but whether or not there is a fix in the works is anyone’s guess. Nothing found through multiple searches.

Those Medallion units appear to be used in the pontoon industry for many years so I'm guessing it's not a failure of the hardware itself. A glitch in the programming is what I'm guessing. Can you for the time being reconfigure the tanks to get the fuel to reset back to zero? It might take a few keystrokes but it could hold you over until the dealer/Bennington figure this out. And is there a backup process like on this non-Bennington product?

I could probably try that, but that would not fix the problem that the hours will not reset. 99% sure it’s a firmware issue. The main question is whether or not it’s being worked on and when fixed is expected. It sucks to see Bennington release a product with something so simple that just doesn’t work.

No different than the auto industry really with all the new electronic interfaces. For example, Ford/Lincoln in their switch to a new Google based interface from their prior Sync interface is simply a mess. Another wrinkle is the interfaces that auto update over the air. Lots of problems sometimes with background updates that then brick systems and need dealership attention.

It’s all great when it works. But when it doesn’t, it’s a real pain to resolve. In this case it may be a Bennington issue or a Medallion issue that Bennington has to wait on. If its firmware, I’d think its on the Medallion side of it. If it’s special Bennington software bugging out, then the Bennington side of it. Again, part of the snag with all the new and fancy touch screen electronic interfaces in boating and automotive these days.

Based on my experiences I wouldn't hold my breath for a call back from Bennington, a strong dealer is the key to getting support for your boat.
