Where is a tranducer mounted?

I have a new Benny and I am looking to install a fishfinder. Looking at the back of the pontoons there are brackets. Is one of those used to mount the transducer?
 
Mine is mounted on the bracket - port side.
 
Mine is mounted on the port side, but was told by dealer to make sure it is not centered above keel, the keel produces a air pocket and will give ou a false reading. mine iis a inch to the left of keel.
 
I don't know if mine is centered or not, but it seems to work ok for my needs.

I wonder why it is on the port side. That means running more wire to the other side of the boat.
 
I think because the ladder is starboard. The us clips to run wire to other side.
