Winter has arrived in Northern Michigan

Good I'm sure he'll do a good job!

I got the welding done on Saturday afternoon. He took his time digging the wood out of the crack in the seam where I hit a "below the surface" log. He did a good job, and hopefully, that won't happen again, but if it does, it means that we were out enjoying the boat. You just can't see everything that's in the water when it's not sticking up in your face. The Toonafun, now has character; a little dent where the log hit, and the scare after the repair.

Now the dam. If the dam fails its possible it "could " break the locks and create havoc on the lakes in the area.

Wow Jack, hoping for the best outcome for you

Hoping it all holds and settles. I cannot imagine how nerve wracking that would be.

That's awful. Hoping the best for you guys. Not to make light of your situation, but sure wish some of that water would make its way to Lake Huron and Saginaw Bay.

The dredge doing the mouth of the channel out into the Bay is behind and if they don't finish by April 15th, they have to wait to July 1st to continue due to Fish spawning laws.

Our neighbor will never get his pontoon docked against his seawall like he had last year and I'm not ever sure our jet boat will have enough water at our dock. Hoping its deep enough at the end of dock to float the boat come end of May. Most likely will have to move the dock down on the brackets so its not so much of a drop into the boat.

Todd , the Cheboygan River does empty into lake Huron . But I dont think it would be enough to help .

We hit the 1st stage at 5:45 am this morning. Water levels are 12 inches from the top of the dam.
I cant get to it but Id bet our marina is completely under water.

So very sad for all involved. Hoping this doesn't turn into another Sanford dam disaster or even worse!

Prayers for you all!!!!

Sending our best to you up there. Bad enough with the high water, hoping the dam and associated infrastructure hold up.

The dam and locks are about 17 miles north of us . If it breaks the worst damage ( they say , who ever they are ) will be north of the dam and locks . If the locks give when the dam breaks . It will supposedly cause a drop of 10-12 inches the entire length ( 42 miles ) of the Inland water way . My slip is in 10ft of water ,but the channel from the marina to the Indian River is usually 3 ft deep . Enough said about that .
We went up to Cheboygan yesterday for dinner ( and be nosy ) , one of the servers told us yesterday that the head man ( he had a $700 carry out ) in charge of the operation, told her that things aren't as bad as they are being reported . I know the water level went up 7 inches last night and now only 6 inches from going over the top . The locks are slightly open ,but if they open them wider they dont know if they can get them closed .

Nice for you to perhaps get a bit of an inside scoop! Even if it holds, so much flooding and high water across areas of the state. Feel bad for those impacted in different regions/communities.
