In 2021, is there a relatively simple way to provide GPS data to the Yamaha 6Y8-83500-20-00 (speed/fuel) gauge without installing a chart plotter/depth finder? I'm imagining a small antenna with NMEA 2000 output that plugs into the back of the instrument.

Yep, just buy a GPS transmitter that is compatible with your 6Y8. I have a veethree brand connected to mine, see picture. Once connected you cycle through the menu and tell the gauge to use GPS instead of speedo tube.

Wiring doesn't look terribly difficult. I can't tell how mine was spliced in but from what I read Red is power, black is ground and white is the speed input to your 6y8. Hopefully there are some good instructions.

Got everything I need now. The Veethree antenna/receiver was the key. Thanks again
