I fish from my boat all the time. I needed rod storage that was out of the way of the front of the boat but also not in the way of the bimini top. I found this rack on Amazon. It's a cooler / rod storage for a wave runner. I had to modify it slightly but it worked out well.
I would definitely take a safety course. It will give you a good base knowledge. Do you have any friends who own boats or have been boating for some time? Invite someone with more boating knowledge to come out with you.
My boat has a half door so I mounted it in the center of the boat. Its not ideal but I couldn't find a way to do it without needing to remove it each time I put it on the trailer.
RAILBLAZA Pontoon Boat Square Rail Mount https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DDJC798/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ywHwFb4V0P4KZ
Just got one of these to mount my fish finder to the rail side of my console. Works well and seems very secure.
I wasn't able to use it because I didn't have enough front deck space. It's a very nice looking product and I definitely would have used it if I had the space.
1st boat was an Avalon with a 9.9hp called "Jersey Creeper". 2nd boat was an older boat in not the best shape named "uncertainty " we weren't certain if it would start or float. We got our 3rd boat mid August no name as of yet but we'll figure it out.
I live in NJ. I will be trailering to round valley reservoir near my home. I plan on taking it to a few other lakes a little further away and vacations.
I found www.shuttleslide.com yesterday. Looks like a great product. They even put me in contact with someone who mounted one on his pontoon boat. I'm going to give it a try.
I think I have seen pics of your install. Looks sharp and up until an hour ago I was going to copy your idea. I may reach out to you with a few questions on hw you did it if you don't mind.
Came across this mount today. Couldn't find any pics of one mounted to a pontoon. It is mentioned on this site once but no directly. I want my trolling motor to go off the side but would hate having it stick out when docking. This would work but can't find many reviews. I would hate to drill...
SandSandstone is the one. Thanks for the replys. The boat is a 2019 S Series 188FS in sunset red with a 2020 Yamaha 25hp high thrust and a 2020 shorelander trailer. I should have it in about 2 weeks.
