Can’t tell what gear I’m in with my Binnacle throttle/shifter. There is no “detent.” I think it was damaged by moving it while engine wasn’t running. Thoughts?

Not sure what the problem is, but I don't think it was damaged by moving it with the engine off. The shifter is just a lever attached to cables that route back to the outboard. Hope you get it figured out soon.

Try disconnecting the shift cable under the cowling. If you then feel the detent in shifter you know the cable is not adjusted correctly. Shifting with engine not running can bend linkage and give your symptoms. While cable is disconnected try moving the shift linkage where you took cable off. Do this while moving prop and see if you feel center of motion. That is where cable should be while in neutral detent.
