Fuel tank problems

So, I've had my 1850 GL for 9 years using a Yamaha 50 High Thrust to push it. This spring everything started out fine, until you wanted to go-go. After a minute or so at high RPM, the motor stalls. I find out I have lost prime. Doing a bit of swap of parts, hoses and using a portable fuel tank, I find that the fuel pick-up in my fuel tank is sucking air causing my stalling problems. Here is the kicker, and I don't mean a small trolling motor, the fuel tank and pick-up are one unit and takes 4-6 weeks for delivery. So, I now will have to buy a 12 gallon portable tank to have fun on the water until my new fuel tank arrives at the end of summer. Bummer! Has this happened to anyone else and what were your remedies?

Now, you'll have a spare tank for your longer adventures. :D
