Need Garmin advice

Hey all;

first post. I have a 2013 2575 rcw with a Yamaha 350 outboard. The boat came with a Garmin 431s. Recently the display of speed and depth has become erratic. Some times they display, some times not.... some times I am clearly in deeper water than the unit says (and don't ask how I know that today as I send out my SS prop that caught a rock when the display said 38 feet yesterday) and some times speed does not display.

The transducer is level and does not seem to be water logged or anything....

So my question is, what is the chance I just need to replace the transducer or is the unit going bad? (btw, I checked the connection and it is clean and tight).

If I need a new unit, does anyone know what newer unit will fit in that hole in the dash, other than a 431s? (Ideally I would like a larger unit as this one is pretty small)

I would call Garmin and speak with technical support. Most of todays gps/sonar have a system reset procedure that may fix the problems. If not, they can advise you what else to check for and suggest a replacement unit if need be. Good Luck!
