There's another recent thread on this with some pictures. Same on mine, it's a chintzy deal but also simple setup so a MacGuyver solution exists at the local hardware store. I think a simple med-duty spring or split lock washer could do the trick but I haven't futzed with it yet. Off season task for me, but will share results if I get to it sooner.
The base on mine was replaced a few times by the dealer and I finally just swapped it out for this one. Works best if you put it in one position and leave it alone.
