Secondary alternator feed for Yamaha 4 strokes??

Its late and I can't sleep...  Ive stumbled across a few old forums discussing a secondary alternator feed from the Yamaha 4 strokes. Has anyone ever done this?  Seems it would eliminate any kind battery switch or combiner if your only using 2 batteries. Just run 1 feed from the alternator to each battery and done!  From what I gathered the second wire can be ordered.  
 
So one physical alternator in the engine with a second set of windings in it? Never heard of that, but sounds like a nice idea...
 
No its not a second set of windings, its a second diode that can be used.  From what I read the 2 leads share the charging capabilities of the alternator. 
 
I spoke to Yamaha Customer service, and she told me that it was available to order from your dealer.  Pretty much sounded like it was a "plug and Play" cable.  I am going to check into it, my dealer had not heard of it.
