shifting issue

I have a 2011 20SL with a Yamaha 60HP motor. The kids were using it a couple of weeks ago and it suddenly developed a problem shifting back into neutral from forward. When the control lever was in neutral, there was no problem shifting it into fwd or rev. If it was in fwd, they had a hell of a time shifting back to neutral. This wasn't the case if trying to shift from rev to neutral.

I pulled the boat from the water and took it to the dealer. I was told oil leaked out of the lower end due to drain plug coming loose. Once they flushed and refilled the lower end, problem was solved. Does this make sense to anyone? Dealer says not to worry, loss of oil didn't hurt the lower end. I don't know enough about outboards but am concerned about future problems.

If the problem went away and there are no strange noises then don't worry. Who was the last person to change the lower unit gearlube? If it was the dealer I would get that don't worry in writing.
