New boat owner and this will be the second tachometer I have had to be replaced. Both have worked fine till out on the water then they freeze at a certain point, this one made it one day and stuck at 4200 rpms. Dealer says bring it back, this is getting a little trying. Would like to be out on the lake don't want to hurt the boat but need some time with it, only 7 hrs on the motor so far

If your motors set up properly, you won't hurt it over revving. Did dealer replace harness or just tach?

Yup, drive it like you stole it and bring it back to the dealer on your time. Most times I don't even look at the tach.

They replaced only the tact

Doubt it's 2 bad tach's.  Might be a bent pin or something in the harness.  Does it reset when you power down and then stick again? Or once it sticks, it never comes back to 0?

If its sitcks and doesn't come back, have you tried to disconnect the harness connector to the on the back of the tach and plug it back in again?

Let us know what you find out
