22ft Bennington with a 40hp Honda motor , took the pontoon out this morning for the first time this summer and when I raised and lowered the motor the trim gauge never moved. Could this just be a bad connection? Thanks

Subscribing.

There are times ours doesn't move at all, times that it doesn't move until the motor is more than halfway up, and times it works normally.

I have a 2007 2275 RL with a 150 Yamaha on it. My gauge didn't work when I bought it and I found that it was the plastic ring at the front of the motor that has a small tab that manually moves the trim gauge via cable as the motor moves. My ring was broken so it just slipped on the shaft. Common problem I read. Removed and replaced it with a new metal ring/tab and all works fine now. If yours uses the same system that ring could be either loose or broken.

The trim gauge on mine is far from perfect. It moves when I trim, but there is no real ‘scale’ to its movements.
