My engine started surging a couple months ago. It will surge up and down approximately 100 RPM only when running at exactly 2000 RPM, and it mostly goes away part way through the day. Unfortunately that is the speed that I cruise at quite often. It only has 80 hours on it. I had the dealer look at it and they said they couldn't find any problem. I sent them the video linked below which they forwarded to their Yamaha rep who told them that it was a normal condition. He said it runs rich when it's cold and it normal. Does anyone else experience this issue with their Yamaha?

I will check mine if i am able to get out this weekend and report back.

My tach started doing something similar a few months ago. Now it is getting worse and jumping 300 rpm or more without any sound change on the engine. So could be a tachometer issue.

No surging,smooth as a kitten.

It's not the tach. You can hear and feel the change in RPM.
