    SeaStar Hydraulic Steering Locks-Up

It was so long ago, I'd forgotten that there was a company (Sea Star) notice that came out. Check it out here: http://www.seastarsolutions.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/ADVISORY-POWER-ASSIST_STICKY-SPOOL.pdf

    SeaStar Hydraulic Steering Locks-Up

My problem occurred when the boat was fairly new, and Sea Star had a recall on the steering unit I had, so it was covered under the warranty. I don't know what they found, they may even have replaced the whole pump unit. Sorry, wish I had more information for you.

    SeaStar Hydraulic Steering Locks-Up

I've been emailing the warranty rep, and he told me that all dealers have been notified. If a dealer hasn't found out about it, it's probably because they aren't reading their company mail/emails/notifications.

    SeaStar Hydraulic Steering Locks-Up

Loony, It actually sounds like we have different problems. My makes no whine. and my wheel just locks up... it won't turn at all. I have a flow chart for diagnosing problems with SeaStar's that I got from SeaStar... I'd be happy to email it to you... I tried to upload it, but it says the file...

    Sea Star Power Steering Failures

I have this problem with my Yamaha 200hp and SeaStar steering. Marc, at SeaStar sent me a flow chart, and told me to have the dealer check the spool valve. I tried to load it here, but it wouldn't attach... see my link on Sea Star steering problem. I was able to upload it to that one.

    SeaStar Hydraulic Steering Locks-Up

I finally got my dealer to promise to look into my steering problem. Since he WAS able to duplicate the problem at the shop, he should be able to give us an answer. Boat is due in for repairs on Sep 16th, so I hope to have an answer for all soon after that. I also got a response from a Marc, at...

    SeaStar Hydraulic Steering Locks-Up

I have a 2275 RLi with a Yamaha 200 hp on it, and as I was returning to the dock one day, the hydraulic steering (SeaStar Power Assist part # 1200-2) froze up on me. I was pretty much at idle, and there was a stiff breeze blowing, so I needed to reverse the steering (Helm for you nautical types)...

    12V outlet killing USB outlets

Follow-Up Reversed polarity WAS the problem. I switched the positive and negative wires on the back of the 12 supply (cigarette lighter) and no more problems. Thanks for the help.

    12V outlet killing USB outlets

My hat's off to you both. I checked the polarity, and the center was Negative and the Outer Positive... Just the opposite of what it was supposed to be. I don't have another USB power supply to check it out, but will let you know if it works after changing the polarity. While waiting for...

    12V outlet killing USB outlets

I have purchased a few USB power supplies that plug into a 12 volt outlet (cigarette lighter hole) to power my iPhone 5. As soon as I plug them in, the unit blows up. The first two I thought were a fluke, as I first tested the outlet to make sure it was producing 12 volts. It was indeed...

    Pontoon Selection Help

Commodore Ericscher Don't know why the "Fast Reply" shows up and sometimes it doesn't. At any rate, if you missed it, here was my reply: Thanks for the input, as well as the others who have replied. I have been on Winnipesaukee when it's been that rough... those pictures are realistic. I...

    Pontoon Selection Help

Commodore Ericscher Thanks for the input, as well as the others who have replied. I have been on Winnipesaukee when it's been that rough... those pictures are realistic. I grew up on Lake Erie, near Dunkirk, so I've seen much worse than the pictures you attached. Erie is where I learned respect...

    Pontoon Selection Help

I'm fairly new to the forum and so new to Bennington that I don't even have one yet... key word "yet". I'm trying to decide which selection of pontoons to make, and thought who better to ask than current owners. I live on a rather large lake (Winnipesaukee) in NH, and it can get quite choppy...
