20' w/ 150hp?

With a 115 hull configuration comes more into play. My old 2 toon boat with strakes got up on plane and would go 35 with the 115. My neighbor just got a two toon with no strakes and a 115 and it is still a displacement hull. We actually did a drag race the other day and well....we all know how that turned out for him!

I have 150 Yamaha SHO on a 2016 21 SLX with two Elliptical Tubes with strakes and a SDS prop, rated for 150HP on the name plate. Had to go with the these tubes to be able to get the higher HP rating. Very pleased with the results, with the top down, both front and rear entrance gates open, 1/2 tank of fuel, one person and a small chop on the water, the boat will run right at 44, but everything has to be right, what I mean is the trim has to be slowly bump out at different intervals of acceleration and you have to have a long straight away. But to run 42 is no problem, in a very short distance, top up or down, 2 people, and full fuel. This is based on the GPS on the I phone as well as the Bennington GPS speedometer in the dash.

I was just sharing my opinion/experience is all and wasn't implying BM works directly through the forum on special requests. I thought this was America! Don't make me call Putin and have you hacked!!

I'm still waiting for my official membership card...

It's a gorgeous boating day here so I'm headed to take a little spin in the 'ol 2003 FourWinns Freedom 170 bowrider w/115hp Evinrude Ficht 2 stroke. She's a good old girl - had a lot of fun together. Selling her to friends so we'll stay in touch!

I'm sure she served you well, but with the new Benny you're going to be in for a real treat. As Tom Petty says, "the waiting is the hardest part..."

Glad Andy chimed in. Yup...never hurts to ask your dealer anything, AND it never hurts to get a second opinion. ;)

Now I'm off to my dealer to see if I can get a Seven Marine 627 on the back of a 16'. I'm tired of other brands winning the pontoon shoot out at LOTO!

115 ..... 150 ...... Pfffftttt ....... Get a 20hp like me.

No argument who's faster, and I save lots of $$$$ on fuel.  :D

Our 150 is normally not to bad on fuel but this year for some reason it seems to be a little on the thirsty side.  We have logged almost 70 hours on the motor this year so far (not nearly as many as previous years) but we have burnt through $417.20 in fuel.  Granted all that fuel was from the fuel docks on our lake at a rate ranging between $3.39 and $4.29 throughout the summer (roughly 1.50 - 1.70 higher than street price) but it doesn't have ethanol in it either.

If you do the math on the fuel cost to engine hours it comes out to roughly $6.04 per engine hour......still cheap enjoyment :D :D   We really like when friends go out with us and can't believe how quiet the motor is and say how well the boat rides even across rough water.  Went out for the ring of fire at our lake last weekend and half our guests fell asleep before we came back in around 10:30....guess it was just to relaxing

This is why I never skip over any of your posts Andy. Too funny!

How about S Owners Brotherhood Of Boaters Association, Michigan, America?

On the other post you said they would be willing to put lounges all the way down port w/ no door.  I wonder why they would do that, but not install stern radius lounges in a G.

We found out They  would do the stern radius lounges in a G 20'. I don't know why they don't offer that set up on the builder. However we found out that the G 20 is equivalent in length to the S 21. Too long for our slip restrictions.

Mel...You and I are in the market for the very same boat because of the very same reasons, i.e. dock and lift restrictions. I've debated between the standard vs premium 20' models but have decided on the premium. I too have approached my dealer about upgrading to a 150HP...Not possible he adamantly says, due to manufacturer's guidelines, etc.... So I'll live with the 115HP. Your opinion on some other options: 1- Flooring?? I really like the Seagrass but some owners claim the rough texture traps debris, etc and is labor intensive, 2- GPS Speedometer w Compass Heading vs Simrad GPS G05?? Excuse my ignorance but I have no idea what the differences are. I have tried to research the two but I can't seem to find information. 3- Striker 4 Fish Graph?? What is this?? Do you use this and mount it on the dash in conjunction with the other electronics?? Your thoughts and comments??? Thanx

We just signed! I'll follow up with specifics when I'm on my laptop instead of phone.

We opted for the full vinyl flooring in teak platinum. It's a darker greyish background with ivory stripes. I can see what your dealer is saying about the sea grass. The texture could make it a little more difficult to clean up. But it's attractive.

I have no idea about the speedo/gps/fish finder as we do not use them.I'm sure someone else knows. My dealer was really great with explaining everything I had questions about

Congrats Mel, these things are awesome.

Congrats, you'll love your new boat!

We love the seagrass in our boat.   It is a LOT easier to keep clean than the carpet we had.....dead bugs from evening cruises just sweep out with a soft broom.....no sweeper required.  No matter what option you choose of the new floor coverings you won't be disappointed as they all seem to be a step above the carpet they used to install.  Last year at the boat show the wife liked some of the new flooring options just as well......maybe even better than what we have.

We love our Seagrass. I was told by people in the know at BM that it's the most popular flooring choice these days.

Nope, it doesn't trap dirt. Nope, it's not too hot and the best feature is that it's easier to lay because it's very forgiving to slight variations in the subsurface and alignment (can't spot any waves). Again, from folks in the know.

I love the look of the bamboo vinyl, but it just doesn't look as durable and looks a little slipperier than the Seagrass.

Actual ownership experience. YMMV.

Another vote for Seagrass.  I really like it.  It does get warm (we get 115-120+ in the summer) but it's not too bad and I find it very easy to clean/vacuum.  Had lots of compliments from other boat owners about it.

Papers are signed!!

These pix show our colors but we got the SSRXP layout (modified to remove the co-captain chair and extend the aft port lounge). Smokey granite panels with black accent and black surlast. Full vinyl flooring in teak platinum. Sandstone w/driftwood accent vinyl which gives you greywood interior accents. We upgraded to the pillowtop diamond-pressed seating. Because of the extension of the aft port lounge, they had to move the fuel filler from the port to the starboard side. They are designing a BRAND NEW CUSTOM MADE armrest for the seat behind the captain. This will contain the fuel tank hose. Whoever said Bennington wouldn't do custom on an S was DEAD WRONG. And...wait for it...wait for it..............NO ADDITIONAL COST!

I attached the spec sheet and boat blueprint to this post.

That's a beautiful boat you are having built. Congrats.

The "someone" to whom you refer is me. If you look back, you will see that I suggested to you that:

a. It was important to engage your dealer and regional rep if needed.

b. S series boats are less likely to be customized than R and Q boats. Never said, "wouldn't." I'd speculate that because your boat will be built during lower demand months and it appears that your dealer has an excellent relationship with BM, they could accommodate your request.

I'd also speculate that BM has been considering this layout for future model years and your request moved it along. The fact that drawings were drawn in June 2016 reinforces my supposition. Likely not a custom job at all. But that doesn't matter since your needs are being met.

So, lots for all to learn from your experience. Happy boating.
