2022 boat shows are beginning to take a hit... be sure to verify yours is still happening

Interestingly enough, my wife and I have an opportunity right now to buy a 2021 tritoon that the manufacturer has been using as a "demo". They asked a local dealer to sell it for them. It has about 50 hours on it, and comes with the full 10 year warranty. We are very, very familiar with the particular model. It's top of the line. But we won't see this specific boat until after we buy it outside of pictures. We could wait till it gets here, but might lose it. It's offered to us at >20k less than one would pay if it were new. MSRP is about 130k and sells for around 105k normally. 82k in this case. We're still contemplating it though it won't be here to pick up for maybe 4 weeks. The dealer is getting every little detail for us as I write.

So you can't see it unless you actually buy it?!? Crazy!!! What dealership if you don't mind me asking?!? It sounds like a pretty good deal!

Pretty much. It's considered discriminatory to not allow equal opportunity to all buyers. If it's under contract, then it's not for sale anymore. And if under contract with the buyer, the buyer has rights.....such as having it inspected. So there's no discriminatory concern at that point. This is actually a listing service thing that protects agents and buyers alike. Once changed from the "coming soon" status to active, of course it can be seen.

Update: to be clear, it's a "coming soon" home that can't be seen as long as it has a status of "coming soon". The tritoon can be seen as long as it isn't sold before it gets here. Obviously.

Last year was a circus for those that ordered them. 2021 inventories pretty much sold out for the entire year by May’ish. We got a PWC in July due to a cancelation by those that ordered it the previous Feb. Our main local dealership has seen the same with snowmobiles both last year and this year. They said they are anticipating the same shortage for PWC again this year, but are uncertain as their boat inventory has improved slightly. Fingers crossed for you.

OOC, what kind of Waverunner are you getting? Always curious in peoples interests when it is a non-pontoon/Bennington competitor purchase.

Getting a VX cruiser HO. I sold my 2016, same model except non-HO, this past October.

Two years ago, when I picked up my new Tri toon, and brought in my old one as trade, I asked the salesman if he had any bites on it. He said my trade was already sold, with backup offers and deposits. Not only had the buyer not seen it in person or via pictures, neither had the dealer. They were both driving blind.
 
Boat show in Greensboro next 3 days and is 30 minutes from me, and I'm spending the day there tomorrow by myself, then Saturday there with my wife and friends. Looking forward to seeing what everyone has to show off, and not just boats. All the other stuff is interesting, too.

Jeff ,the Gaylord show is this weekend. My dealer is not participating, every boat he has is sold . He won't take a sold boat. At the last show ,he caught somebody walking through one with Ice creepers .
 
Don’t blame your dealer one bit. I cringe thinking about seeing that happen.

I had been up north at the cottage (came home today) the last week and a half. Saw quite a few commercials for the Gaylord boat show this weekend. It can be a lot of fun looking at it all!

You still going BigD?!? One of the reasons we didn't go to the one in Charlotte is .....It's dangerous to take my wife plus we already have one! Ha! Also some of the bigger boat dealers in our area (Bennington dealer included) didn't participate in the boat show in Charlotte. They held boat shows at their respective dealerships instead!

Saw the 600 hp Mercury today. That thing is taller than I am. Lol. 1200 lbs. And you can't get them. Sold all they have for now. I guess price doesn"t matter. Someone ordered 30 of them the Mercury rep told me.

Mercury just announced a price increase effective May 1. I think it's between 3% and 7%. Dealer wasn't really sure how much yet. Said orders the first 2 months of this year are unlike anything they have ever seen. The talk about prices coming down need to stop....unfortunately.
