That is how our lake got infested with Zebra Mussels and Eurasian Milfoil a couple decades ago. The Zebra Mussels are horrible! The Milfoil really crowds out native plants and impacts fish habitats. They do extensive treatments for the Milfoil on our lake. It keeps it somewhat under control, but not eradicated. I don’t believe there is anything they can do for the Zebra Mussels.

They can attach themselves to boats/trailers and can be spread to lakes. Same with eurasian milfoil, we got stopped at the Canadian border and had to clean every single last stalk before they'd let us cross.

Lake home owners are not a threat to other bodies of water. Seems almost illegal to prevent them from enjoying their property as they have in the past.

It was inevitable considering how mobile fishermen are.

Lake home owners are not a threat to other bodies of water. Seems almost illegal to prevent them from enjoying their property as they have in the past.

It's my read that they aren't preventing owners from using their boats on the lake, just that if that boat goes to another body of water it has to inspected and contaminated first before returning.
Seems reasonable given invasives. We have too many coming over from China as it is.
