Any ideas on the cause of this scratch?

We pulled our boat out of the water and found this scratch.  I'm a little concerned because it looks quite deep.  I have no idea how this could have happened.  It's in the far inside back of the toon and the bumper guide is way up front.  We pulled the boat onto the trailer so no way we could have done it and we only took the boat out of water one time during summer for service.  Anybody have any idea what could have caused this?  Anybody experience something similar?

How's it moved around during service? Forklift?

Did you inspect it when you got it back from servicing?

Plus 1 on the forklift

Good points.  They came and trailed the boat out to their shop and put it back in the water for us.  I basically inspected everything except that part of the inside of the tune since it was back in the water.   I'm storing it at the marina that serviced so I'll speak to them about it.

Looks like either the trailer or a forklift fork to me. It goes straight, then almost straight up. Looks more like a fork, goes straight in, then forks were tilted back causing the rearward angle of the vertical scrape.

That was done with a forklift.

Another for the forklift! Can that be repaired or will it have to be replaced?!?

Aren't those forklifts carpeted?!?

Bummer! Your dealer should know better but I have the feeling that most simply don't care about how careful they are with other people's property. This is why I'm kind of dreading taking my toon back to the dealer for warranty issues and storage.

It has a significant gouge - not something I would classify as a scrape.  Although I had been boating since the service which was end of July without problems,  it is still a concern.  Being a newer boat owner I am not sure at what point these things become structural risks for the pontoon.

I'm cleaning up the boat at my house and taking it to them in a few weeks.  They have been really good to me since I bought the boat but I don't know how someone didn't realize they did this and if they did know then they certainly didn't tell me or do anything about it.  I'm thinking I need to talk to one of the managers to have them look at it.  I really don't see how it could be anything but the forklift.

Semper, yes, the corner is a very sharp 90 angle with the sides of the gouges smearing out - almost as if the boat shifted and slammed into the fork.  Thanks guys for the forklift suggestion - I really would have never thought of that.

I would bring it to their attention right away if you haven't already. Don't wait a couple weeks until you take it to them.

I agree with prd3hnt. And if you can't take it to them now, at least email them with pictures, so you have something in black and white, call them, talk about it, ask them to respond to your email, so you have their ideas on the problem. In other words CYA!  Good luck with it.

I ended up emailing the photo's and talking to them over the phone. I took the photo's right after we pulled it from the water so the date and time stamp are embedded in the photo.   They are very laid back and pretty much said, yep, we probably did it with a no worries, we'll take care of it.   They have been nothing but great with us since be bought the boat so I'm keeping a positive attitude that it will work out.
