I bought a 2575 Pontoon boat without a radio. I'm looking for recommendations on a decent blue tooth radio to install this spring. it had Pyle speakers ,no radio and no amp. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. This will be a complete redo but not looking to break the bank - $500 or less :)
 
Have you checked Crutchfield ?

I like Crutchfield. Might be a little more expensive but their customer service and technical support is top notch. I usually buy “open box” or “scratch & dent” to save a couple bucks.
 
It had speakers installed but no input for those speakers? Very odd. Or do you think there was a radio at some point but was removed and plated off?

I know many members here have some nice setups on their boats and get premium sound. If I were on the sandbar all day that would be a "must have" for me and price up quality components accordingly. Don't forget to consider battery usage and if you have a sizable second "house" battery to keep the tunes pumping.

If you're looking for a budget option the stock KMC'ers aren't great. I'm not an audiophile but would imagine there are better brands in the price point. Fusion and JL seem to be highly rated in the sub $500 class.
 
I'm studying up on a dual battery installation now. :) Thanks for all the input ! . Bought this boat to use for a few summers and sell but now the family is in love with it. They want to keep it and possibly upgrade . In the meantime I'm shelling out $ to make them happy :)
I figure its best to put a nice system in now to help sell it and upgrade down the road :)
 
Dual battery is definitely a needed upgrade once you start adding more audio equipment. I can run my radio on the sandbar for about 5 hours on my 2nd battery that I added. But I'm running 6 6.5 speakers 2 10" subs and two amps

I'm ready to replace my original Kicker KMC10 receiver. It sounds fine but is a PIA to connect to Bluetooth. (Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.). Is a swap to that PMX-1 pretty straight forward? Do you think I'll need to change any wiring? Thanks.

I’m going to say that the swap should be pretty simple, at least as far as the wiring is concerned.
 
You will have to remove the plug for the kmc10 and install the pmx-1 one that plugs into the radio. The wires are all standard color coded. Do not use wire nuts. If you don't have the ability to solder they make these fancy heat shrink/solder connectors you can use a heat gun with to melt.
 
If a nicer pre-owned Bennington, then completing some sort of stereo system might be worthwhile.

Likewise though, if the plan is to flip it anytime in the next few years for a nicer/newer boat, then I wonder if other options might be more worthwhile. For instance, adding a decent system on your current boat may not really improve the value of it anyway. For the same amount, or less than your stated budget, you could likely get 1-2 very high quality Bluetooth speaker systems that can sync together. This way you have a system independent of your boat for other uses, one that you could keep beyond a future sale of your current boat, and yet one that meets your near term boat music needs before the future boat upgrade. It also wouldn’t necessitate adding and wiring in a dual battery system if the only reason would be to have power to crank tunes when beached, anchored, or drifting. Anyway, just tossing this out as something possibly worthy of consideration.
