Cancelled Order Happy Ending

I was in automotive parts manufacturing for many years and understand the supply chain and agree with your assessment. The only item I have a slightly different perspective on is the need to order  a a boat in the Fall to ensure delivey for use when the water is ready.  I think this is unusual times with the significant boat sales, but customers have to be able to order boats in early to mid-Spring and expect a reasonable delivery date or sales will suffer. This will work itself out I am sure.

I've worked in a big supply chain too and tend to agree. We ordered in the fall, but they didn't really pay attention until the manufacturing slot the dealer had was locked in for March execution. If just in time parts from the BOM such as furniture were short during the build cycle in March, we would have been out of luck anyway. I'm sure this is hurting on their side too.

Just got a note from Bennington and my boat is complete and will ship on a two boat load next week!  I appreciate that they are getting out quickly on a small load. Should be in the water soon!

Awesome news!! I'm thinking this is a burp in the system. Remember, they were the number one pontoon supplier in 2016, the largest amount of pontoons sold in the industry.  Forecast is even higher this year with new furniture thrown in the mix. I've been here long enough to know about the "standard" spring lead time, so I tried to play it safe ordering in fall. Even mine came to day before build day missing a piece of fence, but it showed up at the last minute and hit production on schedule. Trust me, I'd be devastated if my build got bumped, but luckily my dealer would have worked with me on using my trade as needed. I bet the Swingback version is kicking their butt. You guys are hogging up all the fabric .... :D

I agree that this a burp in system.  My understanding is sales could be up by as much 20% to 30%.  These are good problems. My issue is when you order boats you get exactly what you want and I never like floor models they are always missing something that I won't compromise on. I waited 6 months to get a warranty furniture replacement so I am sensitive to what they're going through. Mine is an RCW so I am not taking all the material.

In my note to Bennington, I said you must have your hands full with all these orders. Response back was " That might be the understatement of the year". I also added that this is a good thing.

Woot, good for you!

Glad to hear the positive outcome! That thing will be a beauty. Where do you boat in Michigan?

We boat most of the time on Lake Fenton. We have a slip at Skipper Buds. We also trailer up north to Burt lake a couple times a year and do the Inland Waterway which is my favorite place on earth.

Lake levels are are up right now on the waterway . As long as they leave dont leave the Cheboygan locks open ,it should be alright this season . We were about 8-10 inches down last fall .

Nice. I'm on Thompson lake in Howell. We typically trailer over to Lake Fenton once a year. That's our go-to local lake when we need a break from ours. Who did you end up getting the boat from?
