Alright everyone, I am now in the position to start working on new cleats, solar dock lighting, and bumper protection

GIve me some of the pro's and con's of what you have.

For dock bumpers, I am looking at either these 2 options.

I like the tan, but the don't have any corner matching pieces.  The white has matching corner pieces

white with corner guides

tan with no corner matching pieces

Solar dock lights

Solar dock cleats (optional or maybe overkill)

Or any products you folks have used with great success.

Thanks

Hey Todd......first year keeping our boat in the water. We're renting a neighbors slip and it doesn't have any dock protection on the sides except for the 6 fenders hanging from the boat. (3 on each side) If we tie the boat correctly in the slip the boat and fenders do not make contact at all with sides or front. The only thing I added to the slip are 2 galvanized cleats midship. It already had 4 cleats so now I have it tied in 6 places.......

Thanks BigKahuna.

I had 6 galvanized 8" cleats on the old dock / seawall as you did.  Since this is all new and much more appealing than the old 40 year old sea wall and dock, I want do make it look nice at night and very boat functional / friendly. I  used to drive 2x4" into the water that tied into the dock for support and to keep the boat from going up against the dock.  I would use 3' long foam filled fabric type bumpers that I screwed to the 2x4"s and that's what the boat would rest up against.  Since the dock no longer needs supports that are driven into the water, I want to have something that looks clean and is functional

My 10' x 35' wooden dock is fixed (non-floating) with 4" steel poles driven into the lake bottom.

I have 4 sets of vertical pressure treated boards mounted on the side of the dock going from the top of the dock to under the water level.   Whenever I pull up to dock my pontoon boat, I don't have to worry about wind and waves pushing me under the dock and crunching my fencing.  I didn't even have to pad or cover the vertical boards.

Menards has the dock lights for really cheap($15) and have them on sale regularly.

Amazon also has them - 59.95 for set of 4.
