Front Bimini - no option to stow for trailering???

I just picked up a new 22’ SX and got the front Bimini option. Unfortunately, the front Bimini doesn’t have the “little legs” for storage for towing, etc.

Is this the new design or was something left off at the factory? I am thinking I will have to remove for trailering and figure out how to stow it inside the boat somehow…

I just got a new 2025 24SXL with a Double Bimini and the front Bimini came with trailering struts.

Sorry I just looked at your pictures. I had that style frame on my previous boat and it did not have the trailering struts. What I would do is lay the frame down then took a bungee and secured it to the front door when I had to trailer the boat anywhere.

Ok thank you.

I wasn’t aware that there were different options for the front Bimini styles/frames. This really seems like a mistake from Bennington. There was 1 box to check to add the front Bimini so it seems like I should have gotten front trailering struts.

I’ll try to contact Bennington.

Thank you for your insight!

I would start by contacting your dealer first. See if they can rectify the issue before going to Bennington direct. Good chance, they’ll initially kick you back to the dealer if you bypassed them from the start.

Yeah it’s a total different frame. Your rear frame has the quick release that you can pop out and do what you need to do. Where the front frame you have to push a button type thing in then twist it so you can get the ball out of the holder. I personally wasn’t thrilled with it. I would talk to your dealer to see about getting it changed. It will make life so much easier for you. Good luck.

Given the different Bennington models and price points, I wonder if changes in the front Bimini frame and struts or not struts is tied to that factor? Not being a boater that wants or needs a front Bimini, I have never paid attention to the feature. Or I also wonder if that is just an improvement between a ‘22 model (OP) vs new ‘25 model by Kray…?

That aside, start with dealer. Go from there.

I never had a front Bimini and thus maybe my question will not make sense, but is it possible that the intent is to fold the front Bimini back toward the engine versus forward? Not sure how it would lay down, but given that we can’t trailer with the cover, maybe it tucks in behind the steering wheel?
