H2O and octane…

Lots of posts on this issue. I would recommend doing a search if not already - likely the solution already exists out there in one of these threads. Many have to do with vent location and it sucking in water instead of air as fuel is burned. When tanks are collapsing that also is a clue that the tank venting system is blocked/clogged. When you open you fill cap, the fill vent allows air into the tank and you might hear a sucking sound. Again that's due to your other vent (with charcoal canister) being blocked somehow.

This seems to be a frequent enough problem that there should be a sticky somewhere on this site if not already. And while manufacturers have to be careful about admitting design issues, having the dealer network armed with a TSB would go a long way in making sure customer experiences remain positive!

My 2020 22SSX with 150HP Yamaha is experiencing water in the separator alarm for the second time in six weeks. The first time we had the fuel filter and separator replaced. Now this time the carbon filter capture for venting is filled with water too. Is anyone experiencing this same issue? We used the boat five times since the first incident and now the same issue.
Situation possibly resolved… The EPA charcoal exhaust is located on my Bennington on port side, in the rear chase lounge. It’s designed to exhaust under the pontoon. Unfortunately mine was above he toon and sucking in water over the last year. The canister was filled with lake water and eventually began to back feed into the fuels system triggering water in the fuel system. The dealer was notified that it’s a design issue and replace and relocated the exhaust so it’s located and protected by the under shield.
